My story

Why I chose nonprofits

I didn't fall into nonprofit bookkeeping by accident. I chose it because I've always had a deep desire to help people using whatever skills I had. I love that nonprofits have a mission and a purpose of serving the public, and I love helping the people who support and strengthen communities. I also absolutely love the complexity of bookkeeping for nonprofits.

Nonprofit organizations and boards deserve clean books, clear reports, and a bookkeeper who understands the unique world they operate in, from fund accounting and restricted grants to board reporting and Form 990 prep. I decided I wanted to be that person for them.

I'm based in Oak Harbor, WA, and I work with nonprofits of all sizes. Small organizations with a handful of employees and a shoestring budget. Growing nonprofits managing multiple grants and funding streams. Established organizations who need someone reliable to keep things running smoothly every month.

Whatever your situation, I'm not here to upsell you on services you don't need. I'm here to get your books right and keep them that way, so you can get back to the work that actually matters.

My approach

What you can expect working with me

I build your books around how your organization actually works, not around a generic template. That means your chart of accounts reflects your real funding streams, your reports make sense to your board and your grant managers, and your QuickBooks setup doesn't require a translator.

I'm also just easy to work with. I explain things in plain language, I respond quickly, and I'm proactive about flagging anything that looks off. If your auditor calls with a question, I pick up the phone.

Every engagement starts with a conversation. I want to understand your organization before I make any recommendations, and I want the scope we agree on to actually fit your needs and your budget.
